General Information on Heating Platens

The number and type of cross beams and the type of heating platen depends on the desired splicing length and the required surface pressure. All the key data is taken into consideration in the planning of the vulcanizing unit by the NILOS design section.
When ordering, please make use of the questionnaire vulcanizers.

Information on the Heating Platens

The following dimensions form the basis for calculation of the size of the heating platens:

A: platen length parallel to the belt width
B: platen width at right angle to the belt edge
C: platen width according to the splice angle
D: splice angle
GB: belt width
VL: splice length

Please Consider
The heating platen size is defined by the platen length (A) and the platen width (B) (see above).
When making the splice, an extra amount must be given in addition to the platen length and width in accordance with the relevant DIN standard for steel cable and fabric belts.
The platen lengths and widths derived as a result can be found in the table below.
When using rhombic heating platens, the angle of the splice must be given as well.
The stipulations of the relevant belt manufacturer must be taken into account if applicable.

Steel Cable Belts

Fabric Belts

Platen Length (A)

Splice length (VL) + 300 mm

Splice length  (VL) + 200 mm

Platen Width (B)

Belt width (BB) + 150 mm

Belt width  (BB) + 100 mm
